英语里表示时间时，in、on 和 at 都很常见。最实用的判断方法是先看时间范围：是一个较长的时段、某一天，还是一个具体时刻？本文专门讲这三个介词在日期和时间表达中的区别，并用纠错和练习帮助你把规则用出来。

先记住：范围从大到小

可以把时间想象成从大范围逐渐缩小：
  • in 用于较长或较宽泛的时间段，例如月份、年份、季节和一天中的部分时段。
  • on 用于具体的某一天，例如星期几、某个日期或某人的生日。
  • at 用于具体的时刻，例如几点、正午、午夜和 night。
这个规律很有帮助，但不是机械翻译。下面的固定搭配需要单独记住。

in：月份、年份和较长的时间段

月份、季节、年份、年代和世纪

这些时间都不是某一个具体的日子，所以通常用 in：
  • My birthday is in October.（我的生日在十月。）
  • We go hiking in spring.（我们在春天去徒步。）
  • She started her new job in 2024.（她在 2024 年开始了新工作。）
  • This song was popular in the 1990s.（这首歌在 20 世纪 90 年代很流行。）
  • Many changes happened in the 21st century.（许多变化发生在 21 世纪。）
月份、年份前不要因为中文里的“在”而使用 on 或 at。例如，in July 表示“在七月”，不是 on July。

一天中的部分时段

一般说早上、下午和晚上时，也使用 in：
  • I read the news in the morning.（我早上看新闻。）
  • He works best in the afternoon.（他下午工作效率最高。）
  • We usually cook together in the evening.（我们通常在晚上一起做饭。）
但是，“在夜里”通常是固定搭配 at night，而不是 in the night：
  • The streets are quiet at night.（夜里街道很安静。）
in the night 并非任何情况下都绝对错误，但它通常指某个夜晚中的一段时间，常见于叙述或强调夜间发生的事情。日常表达“晚上”时，优先使用 at night。

on：星期、日期和具体的某一天

星期几

说某个星期几时，用 on：
  • The meeting is on Monday.（会议在星期一。）
  • I work from home on Fridays.（我每周五在家工作。）
单数的 on Friday 可以指某一个星期五，也可以根据上下文表示每周五；复数的 on Fridays 更明确地表示“每周五”。

具体日期

月份加日期、带序数的日期，以及特定的一天，都用 on：
  • The exam is on May 9.（考试在 5 月 9 日。）
  • We moved here on September 1st.（我们在 9 月 1 日搬到这里。）
  • What are you doing on your birthday?（你生日那天要做什么？）
注意范围的变化：
  • I was born in May.（我出生在五月，只有月份。）
  • I was born on May 9.（我出生在五月九日，具体到某一天。）

带有一天名称的表达

如果一个时间短语包含 day 或明确的某一天，通常用 on：
  • We exchange gifts on Christmas Day.（我们在圣诞节当天交换礼物。）
  • She felt tired on the first day of school.（她在开学第一天感到疲惫。）

at：钟点和具体时刻

钟点时间

具体几点几分前使用 at：
  • The train leaves at 3:30.（火车在 3:30 出发。）
  • Please call me at ten o'clock.（请在十点给我打电话。）
  • The shop opens at 8 a.m.（商店在早上八点开门。）
无论时间写成数字还是文字，规则都一样：at 3:30、at ten o'clock。

noon、midnight 和特定时刻

noon（正午）、midnight（午夜）和 the moment（此刻）通常与 at 搭配：
  • Let’s meet at noon.（我们中午见。）
  • The baby woke up at midnight.（婴儿在午夜醒了。）
  • She is busy at the moment.（她现在很忙。）
at night 也是需要整体记忆的固定搭配：
  • I do not drive at night.（我晚上不开车。）

节日：at Christmas 和 on Christmas Day

这两个表达都可以正确，但关注点不同：
  • at Christmas 表示圣诞节期间或整个节日期间：Where will you be at Christmas?（圣诞节期间你会在哪里？）
  • on Christmas Day 表示圣诞节当天：The children opened their presents on Christmas Day.（孩子们在圣诞节当天打开了礼物。）
同样，at Easter 可以表示复活节期间，而 on Easter Sunday 指复活节星期日这一天。

可以用这个问题快速判断：
  1. 是月份、年份或较长的时段吗？用 in。
  2. 是具体的哪一天吗？用 on。
  3. 是几点或一个明确的时间点吗？用 at。

最常见的错误

错误一：把星期当成时间点

  • ❌ The class is at Monday.
  • ✅ The class is on Monday.（课程在星期一。）
Monday 是一天，不是钟点，所以用 on。

错误二：把钟点当成日期

  • ❌ Let’s meet on 5 o’clock.
  • ✅ Let’s meet at 5 o’clock.（我们五点见。）
5 o’clock 表示具体时刻，所以用 at。

错误三：把季节当成某一天

  • ❌ I like skiing on winter.
  • ✅ I like skiing in winter.（我喜欢在冬天滑雪。）
winter 是一个季节，属于较长的时间段，所以用 in。

错误四：把普通的“晚上”直译成 in the night

  • ❌ I can’t sleep in the night.（在表示通常的“晚上”时不自然。）
  • ✅ I can’t sleep at night.（我晚上睡不着。）
日常说“晚上”时使用固定搭配 at night。

两组容易混淆的固定表达

in time 和 on time

这两个短语不是普通的时间范围替换，而是含义不同：
  • in time 表示“及时”，也就是还来得及：We arrived in time to catch the train.（我们及时赶到，赶上了火车。）
  • on time 表示“准时”，也就是符合预定时间：The meeting started on time.（会议准时开始。）

周末的英美用法

  • 英式英语常说 at the weekend：What do you do at the weekend?（你周末通常做什么？）
  • 美式英语常说 on the weekend：What do you do on the weekend?（你周末通常做什么？）
两种说法都自然，写作或交流时保持前后一致即可。

答案与说明

  1. in - September 是月份，所以说 in September。
  2. on - Wednesday 是具体的一天，所以说 on Wednesday。
  3. at - 7:45 是具体钟点，所以说 at 7:45。
  4. in - the evening 是一天中的一段时间，所以说 in the evening。
  5. on - Christmas Day 指节日当天，所以说 on Christmas Day。
  6. at - “在夜里”通常使用固定搭配 at night。
  7. in - in time 表示及时赶上截止时间。
  8. on - on time 表示按照预定时间准时到达。

最后总结

记住这条主线：in 用于较长的时间段，on 用于具体的某一天，at 用于具体的时刻。先判断英语表达是在说“哪个月或哪一年”“哪一天”，还是“几点钟”，再选择介词。遇到 at night、in time 和 on time 时，把它们作为固定搭配整体记忆，表达会更准确自然。
